Angina is chest pain that has its origins in the chest muscle itself. Coronary arteries are the blood vessels that take blood to the heart. Often, they can become partially blocked with the fatty plaques caused by atherosclerosis. There may be enough blood for the heart when it is at rest, but during activity, when the heartbeat can increase from 75 to 190 beats per minute, the muscle cannot get enough blood and it “hurts”. This is reflected by the fact that angina is brought on by exercise but subsides when activity is stopped and the person rests. Our GHA spice mixes and diet help to prevent atherosclerosis and angina.

World over, people enjoy alcohol at every celebratory occasion and raise a toast to success. It has a relaxing effect and complements the taste of many foods, but it can also cause considerable physical and psychological damage. A moderate intake of alcohol may protect against heart disease, but excessive binge drinking or sustained high intakes of alcohol can damage the liver irreparably and reduce life expectancy. Our GHA program is tailored to help you fight alcohol abuse and dependency and prevent physical, psychological and social problems.

This is a group of conditions characterised by inflammation that causes pain and stiffness in one or more of the body’s joints. The condition may be acute or chronic and maybe linked to other conditions like crohn’s disease and psoriasis. The different types of arthritis include osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, pseudogout, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, septic arthritis and irritable hip. Our GHA program and treatment depends on the severity and type of arthritis and helps to relieve the discomfort and relieve the pain and swelling of the joints.

Asthma is a condition where intermittent narrowing of the airways results in breathing difficulties. Symptoms include wheezing and coughing, tightness in the chest, shortness of breath, panic and anxiety & difficulty breathing out. Asthma generally occurs first in childhood. Allergic asthma can result from dust mites, pollen, mould and pet hair. Certain foods like milk, eggs, nuts and wheat may prompt an attack. Our GHA program is geared towards providing a healthy diet, spice mix and therapeutic water to monitor the symptoms and reduce the severity of asthma attacks.

The term autoimmune disease covers a range of conditions in which areas of tissue become inflamed. This inflammation arises when autoantibodies attack the tissue, seeing it as “foreign” matter that must be destroyed. Lupus Erythematosus, Alopecia, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Systemic Sclerosis and Diabetes are common examples of autoimmune diseases, in which the body’s immune system attacks normal body tissue for reasons as yet unknown. Autoimmune conditions are often seen in young adults and it seems that women are more commonly affected than men. Symptoms for the different types of autoimmune diseases can vary, but any and all should be investigated as early as possible. The severity of the symptoms and the outlook also varies greatly depending on which parts of the body are affected. Our GHA Autoimmune Protocol will help you deal with the nutritional aspect of the inflammation.

Cancer is a disease in which some cells of the body grow in an uncontrolled manner and spread to other parts of the body. These abnormal or damaged cells multiply and form lumps of tissue called tumours which can be malignant (cancerous) or benign (non cancerous). When the new tumours are formed in distant places in the body it indicates that the cancer has metastasised. Most of the tumours are solid masses but cancers of the blood (leukemias) are not. Research shows that simple lifestyle changes can prevent up to 50% of all cancers. Following a healthy diet is extremely important while making that lifestyle change. Nutrition plays a crucial role in treating cancer and also in preventing its recurrence. Our GHA spice mix and therapeutic water therapy will help you during your medical treatment to manage the side effects as well as during post treatment care.

Diabetes results in chronically raised levels of blood sugar because of either a lack of the hormone insulin or of a resistance to it. The hormone insulin, manufactured in the islets of Langherhans in the pancreas, makes it possible for every cell in the body to access the sugar glucose from the bloodstream. It also influences the way in which the liver stores any excess sugar in the form of glycogen. All sugars get converted eventually to glucose, which is one of the body’s main sources of fuel. With our GHA diet and spice mix formulations our diabetic patients are able to better manage their sugar levels, control and avoid diabetes-related complications like vascular disease, nerve damage, eye diseases like retinopathy, kidney disease and infections of the skin, bladder and lungs, and lead relatively normal and healthy lives.

Heart disease and atherosclerosis are inextricably linked. The two are responsible for a large number of deaths on a daily basis. When atherosclerosis furs up the arteries of the heart muscle the condition is known as heart disease or coronary artery disease. Heart disease may develop insidiously and the first symptom could be a heart attack, which may be fatal. It is never too early to start looking after your heart and maintaining your lipid profile of cholesterol levels and our GHA program does just that.

Persistently high blood pressure can damage arteries and body organs like the kidneys and the heart itself. Hypertension is a major factor for heart disease, heart attacks and strokes. It increases the risk of stroke six times and the risk of heart attack threefold. Therefore early detection and simple natural remedies through our GHA spice mix combinations can significantly improve your health and reduce the incidence of strokes and heart attacks.

The majority of people have the occasional headache which spontaneously disappears within a few hours.in some people, though, headaches can persist for longer and cause great distress. The pain may be at the back of the head, the forehead and behind the eyes. The quality of pain varies from dull and continuous to sudden and sharp. Headaches include tension headaches, analgesic headaches, cluster headaches and migraine. Triggers can include stress, excess alcohol consumption, foods like chocolate, coffee and cheese, red wine, missed meals, the contraceptive pill, menstruation and any feverish illness. Our GHA diet plan and spice mix combination has brought relief to many. However, a serious headache that results in vomiting, numbness of the limbs and blurred vision requires immediate medical intervention as it may be indicative of a brain tumour or meningitis and subarachnoid hemorrhage.

Heart failure does not mean that the heart has stopped working; it indicates that it has become less efficient at pumping blood around the body and so cannot meet the body’s constant demand for oxygen-rich blood. This condition tends to be most common in those over the age of 80 and is affecting increasing numbers of people  every year. The degree to which someone is affected by their heart failure varies: some individuals have no symptoms at all while others may be severely disabled by the restricted mobility it confers. Maintain your heart health with our GHA healthy heart program.

Obesity is a condition in which there is excess accumulation of fat. Obesity is growing more common in the developing world, due to modern habits of eating unhealthy “junk” foods and an increasingly sedentary lifestyle. It is not necessarily that obese people eat more that the average person, but that they all eat more that their bodies actually need. However, people do tend to put on weight as they get older, due to metabolic changes. Rarely, obesity is due to an underactive thyroid gland, causing Cushing’s syndrome or to corticosteroid drugs. Our GHA program aims at preventing obesity by emphasizing the importance of a healthy, balanced diet and active lifestyle.

Inflammation of the pancreas in an uncommon disorder which may occur suddenly (acute pancreatitis) or develop over a long period of time (chronic pancreatitis). Once it has become inflamed, the pancreas releases its digestive enzymes into the abdominal cavity, rather than into the small intestine. These powerful chemicals then start to digest nearby tissues, causing severe pain, fever and vomiting. The condition can be fatal but most people recover with time and treatment. Our GHA treatment focuses on relieving pain and other symptoms and on keeping blood

Worldwide, the incidence of deaths related to smoking is ever increasing. Passive smoking is also a health hazard. Despite this, people continue to smoke  and put their health as well as the health of their family members and co-workers at risk. This is because they have become addicted to the effects of nicotine in tobacco. Each time a smoker inhales, nicotine transfers from the tobacco onto tiny droplets of tar, which then travel deep into the lungs. Try our GHA spice mixes to be able to give up this disease-inducing habit. Along with motivation and willpower, it will be the best health decision you ever make.

It may be a cliche to say “You are what you eat” but it is so very true. Your body requires a healthy combination of different foods and liquids in order to function optimally and be disease free. Balance is the key word in all matters related to our GHA diet. We advocate a healthy balanced meal plan  depending on how active you are, your history of disease, your current health issues and your family health history. Our GHA comprises the three basic food types – carbohydrates, proteins and fats – in the correct proportions needed for you to maintain good health…always!!!

A healthy weight is one where you are neither too thin or too fat for your height. Being overweight or obese puts your overall health at risk, but so does being underweight. Obesity affects men, women and is unfortunately increasingly apparent among young children. Our GHA spice mix combinations help you reach a healthy weight that you can maintain throughout life; since fluctuating weight levels push up your risk of disease.

People with celiac disease have an allergy to a protein found in gluten. Gluten is found in wheat, rye, barley and oats and their products. In those affected, the lining of the small intestine becomes inflamed and flattened as the villi or finger-like projections responsible for absorbing nutrients are destroyed. If celiac disease remains untreated, a range of related conditions can develop and there is a risk of developing diabetes and cancer. Most people on our GHA program find that their symptoms improve rapidly and may disappear altogether once they follow our dietary instructions.

In Kidney failure the kidneys are no longer able to carry out their normal function of filtering the body’s by-products from the blood, as a result waste products and excessive fluid build up in the body. Acute Renal Failure (ARF) happens very suddenly while Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) occurs when the kidneys fail gradually over a period of many months and years. CRF can be caused by diabetes, high blood pressure, polycystic kidney disease and even an enlarged prostate gland. Our patients on dialysis are given dietary instructions based on the severity of the illness as well as their comorbidities.

Bile is produced in the liver and is then stored and made more concentrated in the gallbladder. If your meal is high in fat the gallbladder will contract and release bile to break up fats during the digestive process. Gallstones are formed from cholesterol and bile and these get stored in the gallbladder. In severe cases these gallstones can block the exit of the gallbladder or the bile duct and hamper the flow of bile. Cholecystitis or the painful inflammation and infection of the gallbladder can occur. Stools become pale and difficult to flush away due to undigested fat in the stools. Opt for our GHA spice mixes and diet plan to prevent damage to the gallbladder.

The pituitary gland, often referred to as the “master gland” sits at the base of the brain and produces many hormones. These in turn stimulate other organs to secrete their hormones that directly affect the body. Most pituitary disorders are the result of adenomas or non-cancerous tumours that change the amount of hormones that the gland produces. Adenomas that secrete growth hormone, adrenocorticotropic hormone ACTH and prolactin are the ones we commonly encounter. Pituitary hormones include the luteinizing hormone LH (affecting male and female sex organs), melanocyte stimulating factor MSH (affecting skin pigmentation), adrenocorticotropic hormone ACTH (affecting metabolism),  thyroid stimulating hormone (affecting metabolism), oxytocin (affecting milk release and uterine contractions), antidiuretic hormone ADH (affecting kidney function), growth hormone (affecting cell division and bone and cartilage development) and prolactin (affecting breast development, lactation, menstrual disturbances and fertility). A healthy GHA diet can help prevent disorders.

In diverticular disease, small, blind-ended sacs or pouches called diverticula form at the side of the large intestine. They develop when part of the intestinal wall bulges outwards through a weakened area. Patients with diverticular disease experience bouts of diarrhoea and constipation, bright red rectal blood, pain on the left-hand side of the abdomen which is relieved by a bowel movement, severe pain and tenderness in the lower abdomen. Much relief is experienced by patients on our GHA high-fiber diet and spice mix.

It is a muscle disorder that causes sharp pains and aching all over the body. It has no obvious cause but maybe brought on by intense stress. It affects women more commonly than men. Patients may also suffer from conditions like chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome and depression. Our GHA therapy targets the pain through the use of our spice mixes, therapeutic waters, SaCha’s TheraSpice Massage Stone Potlis and our other pain relief products.

Dementia is a deterioration in mental ability due to a disorder of the brain. Its symptoms include memory loss, confusion, behavioural difficulties, inability to learn new skills and facts, depression, anxiety and intellectual decline. Symptoms progressively worsen with time. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. It results from a loss of nerve cells in the brain, a reduction in neurotransmitter levels and the development of protein tangles around the nerve cells. Our GHA treatment is geared at slowing down the onset of the symptoms and the progression of the disease.

This is a type of inflammatory bowel disease that causes swelling through the whole thickness of the wall of the digestive tract. It can affect any part of the digestive tract from the mouth to the anus. It mainly affects the last part of the small intestine called ileum and the large intestine or colon. Smokers are three times more likely to develop Crohn’s disease than non-smokers. Our GHA elemental diets which contain simple, easily digested nutrients are recommended to rest the digestive tract while our GHA spice mixes may help prevent other associated disorders like ankylosing spondylitis, kidney stones, gallstones, conjunctivitis and skin rashes like erythema nodosum.

This type of inflammatory bowel disease affects only the large intestine. It often starts in the rectum and then spreads into the colon. The cause is unknown, but ulcerative colitis results in inflammation of the lining of the large intestine, which then breaks down and ulcerates or bleeds. The disease is more likely to affect women than men. Severe cases of ulcerative colitis can also affect the skin (causing rashes), the eyes (causing conjunctivitis), the liver (causing fatty deposits), the kidney (causing kidney stones), the gallbladder (causing gallstones) and the joints (causing a type of arthritis called ankylosing spondylitis). Our GHA diet provides the nutrients needed to support the system especially post-colectomy, a surgical procedure where a damaged section of the colon is removed.

Pregnancy is a time of great excitement and joy for parents to be, but the major physical changes experienced by the mother may be stressful. Close contact with our GHA healthcare team is the best way to protect the well-being of yourself and your baby. A healthy balanced diet is extremely important during pregnancy in order to maintain your health and nurture your baby. It is also essential to have sufficient amounts of folic acid during the first trimester in order to prevent spina bifida. As your pregnancy progresses, your increasing weight, size and tiredness will limit the type and amount of exercise you can do. That is when our team from SaCha’s TheraSpice will guide you with yogic asanas. Although most women feel anxious at some stage it is important to remember that a vast majority of pregnancies end with a healthy baby.

The prostate gland is a chestnut- sized organ located at the base of a man’s bladder. It is wrapped around the urethra as it exits the bladder. The prostate gland produces secretions that are added to semen during ejaculation. Prostate gland enlargement prevents adequate emptying of the bladder and can be a cause of urinary tract infections. Prostate cancer is also common in men over the age of 50. Testicular problems such as epididymal cysts, testicular cancer, impotence, infertility, varicocele and hydrocele are other men’s health issues which can be addressed through our GHA protocol.

The skin is the body’s largest organ whose cells are constantly growing, dying and replacing themselves so that this organ can keep doing its main job efficiently – keeping out potentially harmful microorganisms. At GHA we help our patients with eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, acne, fungal skin infections like ringworm and athlete’s foot, bacterial skin infections like cellulitis and erythema nodosum, viral skin infections like cold sores, warts and molluscum as well as leg ulcers through holistic healthcare and our SaCha’s TheraSpice products.

Osteoporosis is a common condition in which the bone tissue loses calcium. This means the bones are brittle and more liable to fracture. Throughout life the body breaks down the bone and then builds it up again in order to promote growth and repair. In youngsters the rate at which new bone is formed is faster than the breaking down process. This begins to change in early adulthood and from middle age onwards the breaking down process is accelerated and rebuilding slows down, so that bones become less strong and much lighter. Our GHA program has many strategies to keep your bones strong and healthy and prevent osteoporosis before a fracture happens.

The thyroid gland sits at the front of the neck surrounding the trachea or windpipe. Thyroid hormones regulate the metabolic rate of many tissues. Diseases may cause the thyroid gland to overproduce or underproduce the thyroid hormones T3 and T4. These thyroid hormones are released into the bloodstream in response to a regulating hormone from the pituitary gland called thyroid-stimulating hormone or TSH. Over the past three decades, our GHA program has helped thousands of patients with hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, atrophic autoimmune hypothyroidism, Graves disease, thyroid enlargement or goitre and also with cancer of the thyroid gland.

This is a common but poorly understood health condition, twice as likely to affect women as men and is the result of the abnormal functioning of the large intestine. The large intestine regularly contracts along its length to empty itself during defecation. If this contraction occurs at other times in an uncoordinated manner, it may cause abdominal pain, abdominal bloating, flatulence, alternating hard and very soft stools, nausea and headaches. Our IBS patients respond well to our GHA diet that includes plenty of wholemeal breads, cereals and vegetables. Our GHA spice mix taken immediately after meals helps improve digestion.

Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease generally occurs when stomach acid flows back into the oesophagus. This can irritate the lining of the oesophagus. The symptoms of GERD include a burning sensation in the chest immediately after eating a meal, difficulty in swallowing, regurgitation of a sour liquid and chest pain. This can further lead to chronic coughs and disturbances while sleeping. Our GHA program will tackle the conditions that increase your risk for GERD like obesity and also factors that aggravate acid reflux like smoking, fatty foods, coffee, alcohol or eating

The liver is an amazing organ that performs a wide variety of biochemical functions. It is the body’s chemical factory and it has a great ability to heal itself when damaged.  The liver must be severely damaged before its function is affected but when it does fail, there are serious and life-threatening  consequences. Jaundice, hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease ( both alcohol as well as non-alcohol related) are just some of the liver-related issues our GHA spice mixes help address.

Vitamin and Mineral Deficiencies can be the result of poor nutritional intake, chronic health conditions, acute health conditions, medications, altered nutrient metabolism or a combination of all these factors. They can lead to alterations in your energy metabolism, immune function, cognitive function, muscle function, bone formation and general growth and development. At GHA we help our clients achieve optimal levels of vitamins A, B Complex, C, D, E and K as well as minerals like calcium, folate, iodine, iron, sodium, potassium, magnesium, manganese and zinc through a balanced diet.

Common problems affecting the hair and scalp include hair loss, hair thinning and breaking, infections, scalp inflammation, itching, dandruff and scaling. Although it is normal to shed a few strands of hair each day, alopecia is a concern for many people. A sudden and temporary loss of a large amount of hair maybe due to stress, illness or post delivery of a baby. Poor nutrition, certain medicines, diabetes and thyroid problems may also cause hair loss. Our SaCha’s TheraSpice Herbs for Hair and our GHA program work hand in hand to help prevent and control hair damage.

Our lives seem to have become increasingly stressful. We work harder than ever and our personal lives and interpersonal relationships have become more complex. Support systems may not always be in place and readily available, whether from family members, friends or community. This increases stress and anxiety and may lead to debilitating panic attacks.  Some stress may be beneficial and may help us perform at our very best. It is when stress and anxiety become excessive and unmanageable, with no apparent resolution, that health problems start to arise. Our GHA stress management spice mixes have helped thousands of clients recognize their stress and anxiety triggers and manage them well.

If you regularly find it difficult to fall asleep at night or find it hard to stay asleep through the night or both, then chances are that you may be battling insomnia. The odd late night is ok. However, if you ‘choose’ to be a ‘night owl’ and have a ‘delayed sleep phase syndrome’ please remember that your late nights can lead to metabolic disorders like Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. If you have insomnia then our GHA sleep combo paste consumed a few hours before bedtime will help you get sound sleep at night. The plus point is that you’ve made the combo in your own kitchen so you know that it is safe to have.

Varicose veins are a very common problem that often runs in families. They occur when the small superficial veins in the skin of the legs become distorted and dilated, and appear on the surface as lumpy, purple cords. Faulty valves in superficial or deep veins mean that blood can flow backwards, from  deep to superficial, and overfill small veins. Some people mistakenly believe varicose veins are due to jobs which involve a lot of standing. Standing will aggravate an existing problem but not actually cause it. Opt for our GHA program to improve blood circulation and prevent varicosities.

Your bowel habit is probably the best indicator of how well your digestive system is functioning. And when it comes to your bowel habit, you are unique. Everyone’s digestive system functions slightly differently, so “normal” can be seen as anything from bowel movements three times a day to just three times a week. At GHA we monitor your digestive health so that you are aware of what is normal for you. Our GHA spice mixes prevent loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, constipation, flatulence and bloating.

Food travels through the mouth and throat to the stomach via a thin, muscular tube called the oesophagus. Food then travels into the stomach in a one-way system in order that the stomach acid does not flow back into the oesophagus. A number of conditions, however, can cause acid to flow back, or reflux, into the oesophagus, causing the lining to become inflamed and painful. The condition can usually be brought under control by our GHA program with suggestions for avoiding provoking factors such as fatty foods or alcohol and by our GHA spice mixes.

Stomach acid is hydrochloric acid, one of the strongest acids that exist. Its function is to destroy anything unpleasant that may be ingested with food and drink and to activate one of the main stomach digestive enzymes. Despite the mucus coating of the stomach and duodenum, their lining can come under attack from this powerful acid. An ulcer is an area of tissue that has been damaged by acid. Peptic ulcers occur in the duodenum (duodenal ulcers) and the stomach (gastric ulcers).  Fortunately, our GHA treatment has been successful in hundreds of cases.

Your health is something you can influence – for better or for worse – through the lifestyle choices that you make every single day.  Leading a holistic lifestyle by making small changes to the way you live will lead to a healthier and longer lifespan. Simple, realistic changes are by far always the best as opposed to drastic measures that usually prove difficult to sustain and tend to be followed for only a short time. At GHA we will help you make healthy choices suited for your body – healthy choices that you will very simply make for life.

The furring up of the arteries by fatty plaques called atheroma narrows the arteries and restricts the supply of blood and oxygen to the tissues in the body. Any of the arteries in the body can be affected, the most serious, being when it blocks up the heart arteries or those that supply oxygen to the brain. There are no symptoms unfortunately – the first sign being a heart attack. Our GHA program helps you recognize the risk factors  and do all you can to minimize your risk of atherosclerosis and any other associated conditions.

This is a progressive respiratory disease that causes severe shortness of breath and wheezing. It includes bronchitis and emphysema. COPD is a debilitating condition,  almost always caused by smoking and is twice as likely to affect men as women. Our GHA program is geared towards preventing further damage to the lungs as unfortunately it is not possible to reverse the damage that has already been caused by COPD.

Normally waste products from the body pass out in the urine which is produced in the kidneys. If the urine becomes saturated with the waste chemicals, these can crystallize and form stone-like deposits in the kidneys. Kidney stones come in varying sizes.. Small ones may travel down the urinary tract and simply pass out in the urine ; larger stones tend to stay within the kidney but can move into the ureter where they can lodge and cause severe pain. Symptoms include intense pain, frequent painful urination, blood in the urine, nausea and vomiting. Our GHA therapeutic waters and spice mixes help prevent the formation of calcium oxalate stones and can also help with the flushing of small to medium sized stones.

The Urinary Tract includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra. The most common infection is cystitis which affects the bladder. E.Coli, normally found in the bowel, is the bacteria most likely to cause a UTI. Post menopausal women, older people, diabetics and people taking drugs to suppress the immune system are at a higher risk. Our GHA therapeutic water, spice mix and diet help clear the infection.

The two adrenal glands sit on fatty pads above the kidneys and consist of two parts – an outer cortex and an inner medulla. The adrenal cortex produces the corticosteroid hormones, cortisol and aldosterone, that are involved in regulating sugar, salt and blood pressure. The adrenal medulla produces adrenaline and noradrenaline. Diseases occur if there is an insufficient level of a hormone (hypoadrenalism) or if any is present in excess (hyperadrenalism). Addison’s syndrome is caused by an underactive adrenal gland and results in fatigue, weakness, loss of appetite, fever, weight loss, skin pigmentation – dark patches on the creases of the palms, elbows and knees. These symptoms have been addressed with our GHA diet specifications.

Fatigue is a generalised symptom not very easy to assess as it depends on comparison with previous energy levels. Fatigue can be due to anemia, hypothyroidism, diabetes, sleep disorders and depression. Chronic fatigue syndrome can result in tiredness, poor sleep quality, poor concentration and memory, fever and aching muscles – symptoms which may last for six months or more. It can develop due to severe emotional stress. Our GHA diet and spice mix program is supportive, takes into account the patient’s alcohol intake, exercise pattern and psychological state and helps prevent depression.

The symptoms of this common neurological condition are the result of degeneration of nerve cells in a part of the brain that controls movement of the limbs. The degeneration means that the affected area no longer produces sufficient dopamine and acetylcholine, both neurotransmitters that help in balance and muscle control. Typical symptoms include tremors of the hand, arm or leg, rigidity of the body, difficulty in initiating movement, a stooped and shuffling walk, expressionless face, slurred face and depression. Our GHA diet works along with anti-cholinergic and other drugs and our GHA spice mix helps to keep the side effects of the drugs like dry mouth and impaired vision down to minimum.

An epileptic fit or seizure occurs when part or all of the brain’s nerve cells create electrical signals in an uncontrolled manner. If someone gets an isolated seizure it does not mean that they have epilepsy. Doctors need evidence of recurrences of seizures on two or more occasions to carry out a proper diagnosis. Once an EEG diagnosis has been made, our GHA ketogenic diet plan which focuses on consumption of minimal carbohydrates, moderate protein and high consumption of healthy fats along with our GHA spice mixes help epileptic patients lead normal lives.

Disordered eating patterns are getting increasingly common nowadays as more and more people are unhappy about their body shape and size. Anorexia nervosa affects teenage girls and young women and is potentially life-threatening. Symptoms include excessive dieting and exercising, using laxatives and inducing vomiting, using weight reduction drugs like amphetamines. Women with anorexia nervosa have extreme weight loss and even stop menstruating, have muscle wasting and bone density loss. Bulimia is a less dangerous condition. It tends to develop in women who are concerned about their weight but, rather than diet moderately, they follow an extreme regimen of binge eating and starving themselves. Our GHA program uses counselling as part of the therapy and is highly specialized.

Gout is an inflammation of the joints caused by high levels of uric acid. This excess is caused by a failure of the kidneys to eliminate uric acid or by increased intake of foods containing purine which then convert to uric acid in the body. Also known as crystal induced arthritis, Gout is an extremely common condition. It can cause very painful arthritis of any joint, but it tends to affect the base joint of the big toe. Alcohol may also increase uric acid levels and trigger gout attacks. As with most other diseases, nutrition plays a key role in preventing the buildup of uric acid and our GHA program does that and more.

The average menstrual cycle lasts for 28 days and a period can last anything between 2 and 7 days. An irregular menstrual period may be a symptom of ovarian cysts and poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, disorders of the thyroid gland, an unsuspected pregnancy and even cancer. Stress, anxiety, depression, general physical ill health and fluctuating weight can also cause irregularities in the cycle. Painful periods or dysmenorrhea, premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), breast pain and lumps, endometriosis, uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, breast cysts, fibroadenomas or breast lumps and menopausal complaints like hot flashes, mood changes, loss of libido, vaginal dryness and increased susceptibility to UTIs are the bane in the lives of most women. Our SaCha’s TheraSpice Compresses and other products as well as our GHA Women’s Health protocol can help prevent more serious conditions.

The ears, nose and throat are exposed to the air and are therefore vulnerable to the attack by harmful microorganisms and foreign bodies. Despite each of them having protective immune systems, when these frontline defences fail, infection, inflammation and blockage may follow. At GHA we regularly deal with patients with ear aches, tinnitus, vertigo, nose bleeds, hay fever, allergic rhinitis, sinusitis, snoring, obstructive sleep apnoea, sore throat, tonsillitis and chronic laryngitis.

Blood lipids are fatty substances in the bloodstream and include triglycerides and the different types of cholesterol like HDL, Non-HDL, LDL and VLDL. When the blood lipid levels are either too high or too low, the condition is known as dyslipidemia. It can predispose to atherosclerosis. Severe or untreated dyslipidemia can lead to coronary artery disease and peripheral artery disease. Our GHA program gives you guidelines in the form of a healthy holistic balanced meal plan, a GHA Spice Mix and a GHA Therapeutic Water.
