Charmaine D'Souza, is a nutrition and health consultant with more than 25 years of experience in assisting clients who are interested in improving their health and general well-being through better nutrition and healthy changes in their lifestyle. Charmaine is a great believer in freedom of choice in healthcare. In order to have this freedom, one must have information about the different systems of healing. She also believes that the responsibility for health does not belong to doctors, nutritionists, fitness trainers, life coaches, health insurance companies or even the government. The responsibility for one's health belongs to the individual.
Charmaine is the author of two nutrition books published by Random House India called Kitchen Clinic and Blood Sugar and Spice. When Charmaine is not working with clients, she is busy cooking up a storm in her kitchen. She loves experimenting with food and always cooks when she is relaxed because she believes that the food one cooks not only absorbs the flavour of the herbs and spices used but also the attitudes of those who cook and serve it. She is currently working on a cookery book as a sequel to her first book Kitchen Clinic.
Having studied music from the Trinity College of Music, London, Charmaine spends time on the keyboard whenever she wants to unwind. She is house proud and loves managing her home on her own. Charmaine lives in Mumbai with her husband and 2 daughters.
Charmaine and her team work with clients through individualized, one-on-one sessions to offer sound nutrition and health guidelines based on Naturopathy. With the philosophy of Naturopathy, their aim is to treat the individual in body, mind and spirit. Their recommendations are sought by clients seeking to include complementary approaches in conjunction with their current medical health care. Their health solutions are totally individualized and bespoke... just like the individuals they treat.
Charmaine's methods include a recipe for a spice and herb mix and a therapeutic water infusion along with a basic diet plan that is geared toward improving the health of the client. For example, a client who wants to balance excess emotional issues which might be causing mental and physical exhaustion may benefit from simple remedies such as adding saffron to their diet. A hypertensive client will definitely benefit from a therapeutic water infusion of celery, parsley and coriander.
Charmaine has taught Nutrition and Dietetics at Sophia College Mumbai for 18 years. She has also taught the subject to nursing staff at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai. She is a member of the Indian Dietetic Association and has also been associated with Mumbai University for the setting and assessment of University examination papers. Her health page on Facebook called Good Health Always with Charmaine has more than 2500 followers and makes for interesting reading.
In addition to her individual client practice, Charmaine's professional experience includes providing educational services including seminars, lectures, training for other health practitioners, corporate, community and school presentations on natural health.
